The Vale of Evesham School Council Meeting

For the second time this year municipal year, the Mayor, Town Clerk and Macebearer visited an Evesham school. The first part of this visit was taken up with questions and answers  and then a 'council' meeting was held. The students set the agenda for the meeting, should the voting age be lowered to 16? After a vigorous debate, the motion was proposed and seconded, and it was resolved that the voting age should be left at 18 years of age. The students then requested to try on the various gowns, hats and the Town Clerk's wig, which is always popular, taken to make the session more realistic. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The students will be visiting the council chamber soon, for a return visit.
